Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has urged farmers to switch to organic farming in order to combat the negative effects of excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the soil. Speaking at a natural farming conference in samastipur district, Arlekar emaphasized the need for natural farming to produce safe food for humans, animals & birds. Former union agriculture minister Radhe Mohan Singh also emphasized the importance of organic farming for self-sufficiency and food security.
