More than 350 farm women and women agripreneurs from all 23 districts of Punjab participated in the event Awareness on Agripreneurship cum Exhibition for Farm Women’ on 28th March 2023. The event was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad in collaboration with PAMETI, Ludhiana and the Department of Agriculture Farmers Welfare, Punjab.

The objective of the event was to create awareness among farm women and women entrepreneurs regarding entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors. The event also highlighted the significance of digital media for upscaling and promoting agriculture enterprises.

Tapping the digital landscape to promote women entrepreneurship:

As a part of the event, an exhibition was displayed by around 20 women agripreneurs from different districts of Punjab. The women agripreneurs exhibited a variety of products like pickles, masalas, honey, muffins, cake, candies, amla products, murabba, chutneys, millets cookies and other millet products. During the interaction, the exhibitors were informed by the experts on ways to upscale and promote their enterprise using digital media platforms.

In the address, the Chief Guest of the event, S R Ingle, Joint Director (Extension), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare highlighted the significance of G20 events in India for agriculture. He also mentioned that at present women constitute only 14% of the total entrepreneurship in India and the need to re-enforce the efforts. Further, he talked about how the Agri Infrastructure Fund (AIF) scheme of the Ministry can benefit these women entrepreneurs to establish and upscale their units.
