A two-day seminar on “Emerging Trends in Organic Farming, Agribusiness and its Impact on Rural Development” began on February 17 at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Mysore, inaugurated by N. Nagaraja, Registrar (Evaluation). C.P. Gracy from Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra emphasised that sustainable and organic agricultural practices are vital for securing rural livelihoods and long-term food security, highlighting the need to integrate agribusiness innovations with rural development strategies. Speakers also underlined the importance of organic farming, value addition, market-oriented agribusiness models, value-chain development and supportive policy frameworks in enhancing farmers’ incomes and advancing sustainable rural development, with participation from academicians, policymakers, practitioners and researchers.
