Tripura flagged off a consignment of 15,000 organic scented lemons from Agartala to Kolkata under the ‘Prabashi Tripura’ programme, led by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
The lemons were grown by around 80 farmers across 100 hectares in Khowai district and dispatched via the Agartala Railway Station.
Nath said Tripura’s organic produce is gaining acceptance in national markets, driven by rising demand for chemical-free products.
He added that organic farming area in the state has grown from 2,000 to over 20,000 hectares, with another lemon consignment to follow.
