The Odisha government has launched the Balabhadra Organic Farming Mission from the 2025-26 financial year to promote sustainable agriculture across the state.

Prithviraj Harichandan announced in the Assembly that the Odisha Organic Farming Mission will run until 2029–30, aiming to bring 90,670 hectares across 11 districts under organic cultivation. Under the “Amrut Anna” component, chemical-free aromatic rice and pulses will be supplied to Jagannath Temple Administration for Mahaprasad and rituals, promoting Jagannath culture. The mission will expand farmer training, DBT incentives, certification, and market linkages to boost incomes while strengthening Odisha’s agricultural and cultural heritage
