Kochi: The only certified organic seed farm in the state at Aluva is all set to become a carbon-neutral farm soon. The 102-year-old farm is a storehouse of traditional paddy varities. The farm is managed jointly by the district panchayat and agriculture department. District panchayat officials said that major development activities for improving infrastructure and connectivity will be put in place. Focus will be on making the farm a potential tourism spot. Tender processes have started for various works after an allocation of Rs. 9 crore has been made. The work activities are being carried out with the objective of providing transport facilities along with infrastructure development. Construction of bridge, boat jelly, roads and stables are on the anvil. A new boat worth Rs 20 Lakh will be purchased utilizing the CSR fund of the Cochin Shipyard.
