Tripura’s organic agri-product gains new market in Germany
Tripura’s organically produced ginger and Bird’s Eye Chilly (Dhani Lanka) have found a new export market in Germany after being showcased at BIOFACH 2026 in Nuremberg, where buyers were impressed by their quality and freshness. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed deep joy as German agriculturists placed orders for 500 metric tons of ginger and 20 metric tons of Bird’s Eye Chilly. He credited the support of the Union Ministry of Industry and Commerce and said Tripura will focus on maintaining quality and increasing production to expand further in international markets.

Meghalaya made its debut at BIOFACH 2026 in Nuremberg, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food and agriculture, where India was recognised as Country of the Year among participants from over 90 nations. Led by Dr. Vijay Kumar D., Commissioner and Secretary and Chairman of MEGNOLIA, the delegation showcased Meghalaya’s integrated organic ecosystem, highlighting its community-driven model built on certification systems, farmer collectivisation, sustainability and market integration. The participation marked a strategic step towards connecting the state’s organic producers with global buyers, certification agencies and development institutions, strengthening their integration into international value chains.
